building a family roadmap

This past weekend I had the opportunity to speak at Sun Valley Community Church While I don’t typically post talks that I give, this one generated some serious conversations afterwards so I figured I’d share it with you. So here’s to hoping that God uses this talk and the resource below to place your family on the right trajectory!

Want to take this talk and put it into action? Here’s a great tool that I highly recommend to help you build your own plan for where God wants to take your family. Get your copy here!

Many parents want to lead their children on a spiritual journey, but they just don’t know how. “The Family Road Map” answers the question, “But how?” This workbook is designed to be a step-by-step guide for parents in planning the purpose and direction of their family. “The Family Road Map” will guide parents through creating a family purpose statement, establishing family values, identifying key mile-markers for their children, and thoroughly evaluating the yearly personal growth of each of their children. “The Family Road Map” will serve as a guide for parents in raising their children to become all that God wants them to be.

conducting a spiritual audit

Yesterday we gave our staff a half-day off…well sort of. All Sun Valley Staff, from top to bottom, were given a spiritual audit and simple instructions. Spend a leisurely restful morning doing something that fills you up. Sleep in, go for a hike, go on a motorcycle ride, hit a favorite coffee shop…whatever refreshes you. Then make time (about 45 minutes) to find a quiet place and answer 12 pre-designed questions on a spiritual audit. Following the spiritual audit, staff found a prayer guide that took an additional 45 minutes or so to go through. Finally staff made plans to meet a co-worker for lunch to discuss and debrief what God showed them through this experience. It was a simple way to invest in the team and reinforce that we want something for them, and not just from them. It was also a simple way to build a culture of authenticity among the team. Interested in the 12 questions from the audit? Check them out below…

the equation

Just like an equation we work diligently to solve life’s problems; plugging in one guess after another, believing, eventually, we’ll reach the answer. But equations are funny and no one knows how the answers will land. Sometimes there’s no solution, other times infinite solutions, but most of the time only one. Is life a problem to be solved, or just a mystery to be lived?

Come and be a part of a brand new teaching series beginning Easter Weekend at Sun Valley Community Church. Click here to get the service times at one of our three locations Gilbert, Tempe, and Casa Grande.

final destination

What happens when we die? Will we know our loved ones in heaven? Do we become angels? What about ghosts? Can the dead see us? What does the Bible really say about heaven, hell and our Final Destination? This weekdend we’re beginning a 6 week series on all three Sun Valley Campuses unpacking what the Bible teaches about what happens after we die. If you’re in the Phoenix Valley don’t miss it!

new in 2012

This past weekend I had the opportunity to preach the last message at Sun Valley Community Church in 2011 and the first of 2012. It was a great weekend and God used this message to speak to a bunch of people. The feedback was incredible! Hope He uses it to encourage you. Enjoy!
